File Locking
Where to find it: Content → Media library → file menu → Lock
Locking a file controls who is allowed to change or delete it. It’s useful for protecting approved or important content from accidental edits, while still letting everyone see and use the file in playlists.
Lock Modes
When you lock a file, you choose one of two modes and select the users it applies to:
|
Mode |
Who can edit or delete the file |
|
Whitelist |
Only the users you select. |
|
Blacklist |
Everyone except the users you select. |
Note: Administrators can always edit and delete files, whichever mode is set; the selection applies to regular users and viewers.
Locking and Unlocking a File
To Lock a File
1. Open the file’s menu and choose Lock.
2. On the locking page, choose Whitelist or Blacklist.
3. Select the users the rule applies to.
4. Save the lock.
A locked file shows a lock icon in the list. Anyone blocked by the lock can still see and use the file, but can’t edit or delete it. To remove a lock, choose Unlock from the file’s menu. This clears the rule entirely.
Best Practices
• Lock approved content. Protect finalised or sensitive files so they aren’t changed by mistake.
• Choose the mode that’s simplest to maintain. Use a whitelist when only a few people should have access, and a blacklist when most should but a few shouldn’t.
