Integrations
Where to find it: Manage → Integrations
Integrations connect Omnially to outside platforms, so information from those services can flow into your screens automatically. They do two main things: bring in external data (such as donor lists, weather, or advertising content) to display in your content, and, for ad networks, report back which ads played.
Each integration is switched on for a company, and the same integration can be active for several companies. You manage them from the Integrations page.
Before You Begin
Before setting up an integration:
• Make sure you have permission to manage integrations.
• Have any account details ready. For some integrations you’ll sign in to the other service, and for others you’ll need a key or ID provided by that service.
The Integrations List
The Integrations page shows a card for each available integration, with its logo, name, a short description, and a status badge:
|
Badge |
Meaning |
|
Active |
Switched on for your company. |
|
Renew |
Active, but the connection has expired and needs signing in again. |
|
(no badge) |
Not yet set up. |
Clicking a card opens that integration’s page, which describes what it does and provides the buttons to connect, configure, or disconnect it.
Note A few advertising integrations (AdOmni, AdStash, and Vengo) aren’t shown on this list. They’re set up on the company’s own settings page instead. See the Companies article.
Donor and Data Integrations
These integrations bring information from another service into your content.
Blackbaud
Connects to your Blackbaud account to power donor lists on screen.
Connecting: click Activate Integration and sign in to Blackbaud in the window that opens. Once authorised, the page reloads and shows the linked account and when the connection is due to expire.
Keeping it connected: if the connection expires, the integration shows Renew (or “Due for renewal”) and a Renew Login button to sign in again.
Syncing: donor lists update automatically every few minutes (additions, removals, and name changes all come through, across the various Blackbaud list types).
Important Unlinking a Blackbaud account can’t be undone, and it switches off the donor lists linked to that account (they go blank, and any designs using them need to be updated). Only unlink when you’re sure.
DonorPerfect
Connects to DonorPerfect to power donor lists on screen. To connect, click Activate Integration, enter the API key from your DonorPerfect account, and enable it. You can disconnect it again from the same page.
Weather
Provides live weather to display on screen. It’s set up the same way: activate it and enter the key it asks for. It powers the weather content in your designs.
Advertising IntegrationsAdvertising integrations bring paid ad content into your playlists, where it plays alongside your own content. The supported networks are AdOmni, AdStash, Vengo, and Vistar.
Connecting an Ad Network
Vistar is connected from the Integrations page: click Activate Integration (or the settings icon if it’s already active) and complete the details it asks for, including:
|
Setting |
What it’s for |
|
Account details |
The network ID and key that identify your account with the ad network. |
|
Slot duration |
How long each ad slot runs (15 seconds by default). |
|
Approval mode |
Whether new ad content plays automatically or waits for your review (see below). |
|
Reporting emails |
Optional addresses to receive reports. |
AdOmni, AdStash, and Vengo are connected on the company’s settings page rather than here. Once any ad network is enabled for a company, ad content begins flowing into the designated playlist on that company’s devices.
Note Disconnecting an ad network removes its content from your playlists.
Choosing How Ads Are Approved
Each ad network can be set to one of two approval modes:
|
Mode |
What happens to new ad content |
|
Passive approval |
Approved automatically and plays as soon as it arrives. |
|
Manual approval |
Held for your review before it can play. |
When an ad network uses manual approval, new content waits in the Content Approval queue for you to approve or reject. That queue is covered in its own article — see Content Approval.
Ad Play Reporting
For advertising integrations, Omnially automatically reports back to the ad network which ads played. This happens behind the scenes whenever ad content runs. For devices with a Vengo integration, a play-history record is also available on the device’s ad tab, which you can filter by date and download.
Best Practices
• Watch for the Renew badge. A connection marked Renew has expired: sign in again so donor lists keep updating.
• Unlink Blackbaud with care. It can’t be undone and blanks the donor lists tied to that account.
• Use manual approval when you want control. It routes new ads through the Content Approval queue so nothing plays without review.
• Keep account details handy. Key-based integrations need the key or ID from the other service to connect.
